The prototype model of a low vacuum photoelectric manometer has been developed and studied. The manometer is based on the gas-refraction index control in PMI-2 vacuum sensor. The cylindric part of the sensor glass encapsulation is used as «a gas prism» deflecting a laser beam. The beam shift is registered by a differential photocell as pressure measure. The small dimensions (100х65х20 mm) and weight make it possible to locate the manometer on PMI-2 sensor without disturbing its normal function. It is experimentally shown that a photocell signal grows lineally with the increase of the air pressure within the range of (10 –1000) Torr at the manometer sensitivity of 0.027 μA/Torr. The purpose of the paper is the development of a low vacuum photoelectric manometer based on the light refraction control in PMI-2 sensor.
