The results of studying the interaction of reed switches contact surfaces without galvanic coatings dur ing switching tests in non-current mode are presented. The increase in transient electrical resistance of reed switches is established to be connected with mechanical destruction of contact surface and the formation of polymer dielectric coatings on it. The possibility of eliminating these coatings by treating reed switches in gas discharge is shown.

Key words: : reed switches without protective coatings, mechanical wear of contact surface, dielectric polymer coatings, gas discharge.
