The problem of localization of pupil centers of human eyes is considered, according to the results of
which image transformation parameters are calculated to bring them to the required appearance in access
control and management system for protected objects. The aim of the work is to develop and describe algorithms for localizing the centers of human eye pupils in an image based on the combined use of fast radial
symmetry transform and cascading Viola – Jones classifier. The features of fast radial symmetry transform
are considered from the viewpoint of determining the areas containing points that are possible desired pupil
centers. The results of experiments with the proposed algorithms are presented, which show the possibility of
their application to solve the problem. At the same time, the algorithm has best characteristics, in which the
search for potential pupil centers is first performed using fast radial symmetry transform, and then refinement
is performed using cascading Viola-Jones classifier.
Key words: computer vision technologies, detection of specified objects in images, detection and localization
of round objects in images, localization of pupil centers of human eyes, access control and management
system for protected objects, Viola – Jones algorithm, cascade classifier, fast radial symmetry transform.
